Flickering Lights
Flickering lights are one of the most common electrical complaints we diagnose. The causes range from minor (a loose bulb connection, a failing dimmer switch) to significant (loose wiring inside the circuit, voltage fluctuations from the utility connection, or an overloaded circuit). When flickering is isolated to one fixture, the fix is usually straightforward. When it affects multiple rooms or happens when large appliances start, the issue may trace back to the service panel or the home's main electrical connection — which warrants a professional inspection.

Tripped Breaker
A tripping breaker is doing its job — it's telling you that something is drawing more current than the circuit is rated for, or that a fault has occurred in the wiring or a connected device. The common causes are overloaded circuits (too many high-draw appliances on one circuit), short circuits (a hot wire contacting a neutral), or a ground fault. What you should not do is simply keep resetting a tripping breaker without finding out why it's tripping. Repeated resetting can mask a wiring problem that poses a fire risk. We diagnose the root cause, not just the symptom.

Dead Outlet
An outlet that has no power is almost always one of three things: a tripped GFCI outlet protecting that circuit, a tripped breaker at the panel, or a wiring issue at the outlet itself. Start by checking all the GFCI outlets in the home — the ones with the Test and Reset buttons, typically found in bathrooms, kitchens, and garages. They protect multiple outlets on the same circuit, and resetting one can restore power to outlets elsewhere. If GFCI reset and the breaker both check out, the outlet has a wiring problem that needs repair. We'll find it and fix it.

Burning Smell
A burning smell from an outlet, switch, or electrical panel is a serious fire hazard that requires immediate professional attention. Burning smells indicate arcing — electrical current jumping across a gap in damaged or loose wiring — which generates heat that can ignite insulation or framing. Do not try to reset breakers, open outlet covers, or continue using the circuit. If you can identify the circuit, turn it off at the breaker. Then call us. This is one situation where same-day service is genuinely urgent — electrical fires can start inside walls and spread before they become visible.

Buzzing Sound
A buzzing or humming sound from outlets, switches, light fixtures, or the electrical panel usually points to arcing, a loose electrical connection, or a failing device. Some buzzing is normal — dimmer switches and fluorescent fixtures produce minor hum — but a buzzing outlet or panel is a warning sign that the connection is degrading. Loose connections generate heat and can eventually cause arcing, which is a fire risk. The source matters: a buzzing single outlet is usually a simple repair; a buzzing panel needs immediate inspection. Don't ignore electrical sounds.

Multiple Issues
When multiple electrical problems appear at the same time — outlets failing, breakers tripping, lights dimming on one side of the house — the cause is often upstream. Multiple simultaneous failures frequently point to a panel problem, a failing circuit, or an issue with the main service connection. We approach multi-symptom situations systematically: we don't patch individual symptoms when the root cause is systemic. If your home is showing several electrical problems at once, the diagnostic visit is the most important step. We'll trace it back to the source and give you a clear assessment.
